GingerBread Contest '09

Our annual Paxman gingerbread contest was held last Friday night and after much planning, deliberating, and calculating this is what we came up with........

You gotta click on these pixs to see them up close!
We chose a flower theme. Why you ask, well dont you think that gingerbread houses and flowers TOTALLY go together!! lol. Mike and I usually are very competitive but for some reason the "ginger bread genius" skipped both of us! Everyone graciously puts up with our attempts at trying to compete. We ave fun doing it so I guess we will keep trying until we get the grand prize! That'll be the year that Dustin and Annika are in Ireland and Haley is in labor at the hospital I have a feeling!Whitney and Homers went with the classic gingerbread theme. Usually there is some kind of a Jeep rigged together with pretzels and licorice but I guess the family that lives here is in Moab right now :)

Haley and Landons version of LaVell Edward Staduim. We weren't sure what these two were up to as you cant reveal your plans in the early stage of the contest :) I was pretty impressed with what they ended up with!
Dustin and Annika's Castle on the Ireland shore. William thinks this is where they are going to live. Dustin and Annika always come up with the best houses! There really is NO competing with them. So Mike and I just laugh and try our best to come up with somethinf half way decent.
My Mom and Dad are so good! While we were entrenched in our decorating and scheming they were down stairs with ALL the grand kids helping them make their own creations. Thanks Mom and Dad we all had a great time!

I love it! I totally dig your flower-power house. Only you and Whit actually used a "house", so you should get points for that. Dustin and Annika's was pretty great, but I didn't see gingerbread. But it is an impressive castle and I would be happy to visit them there!

You thought we were being nice about saying how cool yours was. The judge agreed and you forgot to mention we tied for 1st place. I think I'll pass on the Christmas baby. Thanks though.

We had such a good time with the kids, they all were very serious about what they put on their houses. They explained each and every item. I don't know who got the most fruit stripe gum, but I do know most of it went into their mouths, not on the houses! Thanks for making it so special!

What a fun idea! You guys are pretty creative. Martha Stewart would be proud. I make gingerbread houses from the kits they sell with everything included, and even then they are not great. Looks like fun!
