My goal in delivering this baby is to do it as natural as possible i.e. no induction, and POSSIBLY no epidural... We will see! I have been reading up on hypno-birthing and think that if I can keep myself from laughing at some of the imagery it might actually do the trick. No promises though, I'll have to go with the flow...... like when she is actually in the ole' canal :) Too much visual..... sorry.
I think our medical world has gotten too much into scheduling inductions for no other reason then the convenience both to the doc and the mother. Which dont get me wrong, I totally get. All 3 of my girls have been! Two for medical reasons and the other for the tax break. But alas this post is not to discuss the induction topic. This post is to break down the ever important BIRTH- STORY.
I am sure if you have asked me why I am NOT getting induced early I gave you the answer of, "I really want a story". Now let me tell you all why.
One of my favorite birthday traditions growing up was eating breakfast together as a family and hearing our own birth story. Dustin came early and my grandpa and grandma had to follow my parents to the hospital for fear they might run out of gas. (Note to self, make sure the vehicles have PLENTY of gas) and I came so fast the nurse didn't believe my Mom when she told her she had the urge to push. For those of us who know what that urge feels like....... well what can I say? What other feeling is like that? Haley's labor while my Grandpa was walking with my Mom around the mall and wouldn't stop for her to get through a contraction. Whitney was the cutest baby in the nursery with at ton of black hair and everyone wanted to see her, and Nathan was a bit of a tub-a-goo weighing in at 12 pounds. Yes my Mom delivered a 2 month old! So see good stories, good memories.
I have since resumed this tradition with my girls but telling each of them practically the same labor story is a little boring. A lot of the details are the same. I called the hospital, they told me when to come, we played cards, watched a movie, the doctor broke my water and a few hours later you were born. Of course there are specifics that I remember but for the most part they are pretty similar. So for this the 4th baby girl I want a story!! Nothing dramatic, (especially since Mike is out of town for the week!!) Just a simple story that cannot be told of anyone elses birth-day.
So stayed tuned in, there will be a new birth story in the Monsen home!
**Unless it is passed the 22nd!! She'll have to live with the same story and I'll be giving up on my Birth Story re-telling dreams :)

First off, WHAT IS MIKE DOING OUT OF TOWN THIS WEEK??? Hello!? Second, I feel you on wanting the "story." There are silly things we as mommies want for our kids, and having a great story to tell is one of them. So I guess we all cross our fingers she comes on her own, so long as it's not this week--while the hubby is away. However, what good do they REALLY do there anyway?? ;) You give me a call, I'll come play birth coach. Good luck lady. Be sure to post that birth story--from your recovery room at the latest!
P.S. What are you naming this kiddo anyway?
I sure hope you get your birth story! Though I am excited about my boring one...yet again :o) Good luck with the hypno-birthing, I could NEVER do it! I tried and I just don't function that way (laughing never helps the process-haha!).
i hope you get your birth story! they are alot of fun after, not during! good luck I hope all goes well.
Even as old as I am (really old) I love hearing my mom talk about going into labor while waiting in line to buy my dad his books for college and then how she kept me in her room since I was the only baby and they wanted to mop the nursery. She even tells how she dressed and undressed me as if I was a doll. I hope you get a fun birthstory for this little girl...or I hope you can make one up!
I think it is great. Good luck!
And doesn't every mom love telling a good birth story? Of course as was mentioned, it's always better AFTER the fact!!
You will do great! :) Good luck. I can't wait to hear the birth story and meet your cute new one.
I hope everything goes well for you and your sweet baby girl in the delivery room.... but I have to say, don't say I didn't warn you about the lack of epidural! :)
