Half Marathon - PHEW!

Well, I didn't die! I am at a loss for words ( Michael Phelps and I have so much in common;) in describing this whole experience but since I have blogged alot about it I will just try to keep my thoughts on the race day. Throughout the run I had every possible emotion. Excitement (before the race began), fear (when we hit mile 9 and we thought we were at mile 10), anger (at my bladder), frustration ( during mile 12...it went on FOREVER) , pride ( running with my hubby, bro 'n' law, and my training partner Jami), happiness (dumping the cups of water on my head and then throwing them, I felt like a real runner!), exhaustion(hitting mile 13 and wondering just how long .1 really is) you name it I probably felt it. It was so awesome being there at the start line with all the runners. They were so diverse! Tall, short, fat, skinny, young, old, male, and female. We were all there with similar goals in mind- To finish the run at our own personal best. It was great chatting with different runners as they past us or as we passed them. There is a comrade there that I never even knew existed! It was great. I am so proud of Mike, Homer, Jami, and myself for starting with this goal in site and finishing it together. Thanks guys for putting up with me.........Next up training for a Tri-Athalon and a few Diet Cokes! caffeine free of course ;)

Congratulations! You guys are an inspiration to us all that you can do anything you put your mind to and set goals to accomplish. The triathlon next year should be fun. I just need to do some serious training.

We Came, We Ran, We Conquered. Just so we are straight I came in before the rest of the gang and I am the oldest. It was awesome. I didn't know how far 13 miles was, but when I hit mile 10 I knew I only had 3 to go so I turned on the juices (the goo helped too). My speed on the last three miles was much faster than my speed on the first 10. I sprinted the last 100 meters or so. How refreshing to work hard for something and then obtaining it. We are awesome. My hat goes off to my lovely wife and Jami for overcoming all of their trials. I only had to overcome laziness so I figure I don't have much to tout about. I recommend setting a goal whatever it is and however daunting it might be. Then work hard to obtain it. There is great satisfaction in doing so and there you learn invaluable lessons on the way (Mainly "I CAN"). I had never run 13 miles before then. I tried to be on the cross country team in highschool but after I died running only 6 miles I gave up. I feel overwhelming happy that We Came, We Ran, and We Conquered.

Wow, way to go gang!!! You guys are so awesome. What a huge accomplishment. Tiffany, I haven't seen you in awhile, cute hair! Did you do that for aerodynamics in the race? You look fabulous. Good luck on the triathalon. I can't believe I even know someone to SAY that to.
