Kambyll Elizabeth Monsen

Our little beautiful baby girl #5 entered the world on July 29th, 2013. Weighing in @ 8.2lbs. We had been waiting a long time to greet her and finally get to snuggle.  During her delivery I received an epidural that I won't soon forget. The anesthesiologist  accidentally went to deep and popped a hole in my spinal chord which caused me to lose spinal fluid...making my floating brain rest on my spinal chord. The pain started right as I began pushing and intensified as time wore on. Thankfully baby Kambyll was an excellent nurser because I couldn't even look down to make sure she was latching on right.  That was such a tender mercy for the following weeks as I had to remain flat in bed. She was a content baby from the beginning and loved to snuggle face down in my neck and shoulder. Her siblings intstantly fell in love and loved to hold her. The poor girl never stretched out much because someone was always picking her up.
The first few weeks of Kambylls life were filled with service, quiet moments, long nights, wonderful friends and wonderful family stepping up and doing things I wasn't able to do myself. Such a humbling time for me. I physically could not take care of my new baby (aside from nurse her) let alone the 6 other kids that relied on me. Both family and friends took care of babysitting, meals, me, Michael and anything else we needed. I will never be able to repay them for all of the sacrifice's they made on our behalf! Each one will always hold a sweet place in my heart. After a few weeks and a lot of Anne of Green Gables we were "ready " to get back into the swing of things! Kamybll loved to suck on her fingers from the beginning UNLESS she was tired or mad. Eventually she figured it out and has been our little thumb sucker ever since. I have to admit I love a baby sucking its thumb.

We are now officially a family of SEVEN wonderful children. Yeah, that's right 7...crazy!

WHOA, Nelly! I had no idea you had such a crazy time with her delivery! I am so glad you wrote it out. It will be something to look back on and cringe as well as be grateful for. Are you fully recovered? And did the anesthesiologist apologize at the very least? I am so glad you made it through. Such a champ.
