There are some definite experiences in life that are only available to the camper. I will just mention here some of the highs and lows of this last camping adventure. I guess I should probably start with the lows. The first one I will mention is the deep down ....... (you know what I mean) Seriously a heavy duty gas mask was required within a 10 foot radius of that place. The girls were so scared of all the bugs in there they refused to set foot in it. So I was forced into teaching the art of "the squat" which has been quite the challenge.

Guys you really don't know how lucky you are! If anyone has any ideas on how to teach "the squat" let me know. We went through too many little pairs of panties :) Now to finishing up on the lows : loading, unloading, setting up, the hundreds of caterpillars (although if you were to ask any of the kids that would have been a highlight) laundry after the return trip, a cold night, little sleep, crazy dirty little ones and well frankly the list could go on. So why do I love to camp you are asking yourself? Well here it goes as I try to make sense of it myself. The first on my list has got to be the smell of the fresh mtn air (as long as you are far away form the deep down....)

There is just something about it that makes me feel like a little kid. This last camping trip was especially fun getting to know some of the neighbors on a camper to camper basis. As you can see from the pic there were ALOT of little ones running around. I loved how excited my girls got and how much fun they had running around getting dirty with all of them. (A big THANK YOU to my little sis Whitney for taking Raigynn this go around. I am convinced if I had her up there crawling around with all of the caterpillars and ants there would have been no highlights to this campout Thanks again Whit!) I loved chatting and playing games with the some of my fellow E.M.'ers. I loved sitting around the campfire roasting hotdogs (they never taste the same at home) telling stories, and listening to the wood crackle. I loved it when it got too cold to stay outside by the fire but instead of going to bed we decided to just add more wood . I loved waking up in the morning and hearing the first rustles of everyone around. I loved that all of the Daddies took the kids on a hike and let us Mommies sit and chat before the clean-up work began. There really is alot that I love&hate about camping. It is alot of work and we ALL get a little too tired and dirty in the process. But having said all of that it is a process that no matter how many times I say "I am never doing this again!" (usually in the middle of the night and my toes are freezing or when I am un-packing) I know that I will. In fact the next camping trip is slated in a couple of weeks and I can't wait or then again maybe I can :)

Tiffany, Thanks for inviting me. I have spent way too much time reading your blog, but it was way fun. It makes me want to actually do mine.
And you say I'm a good writer? You voiced it so perfectly that all I can say is AMEN!
What can I say other than I didn't even attempt the deep down! HaHa It was fun hanging with the neighbors. The cobbler wasn't half bad either. Can't wait for the next go round.

Ok, everyone thinks I'm a spoiled city kid, but we used to camp all the time. The first time I tried it on my own with Kristen I learned about all the crap that I never knew Mom and Dad were putting up with.... we don't camp so much right now. This is one of those things I'm going to start seeing through Wolverine's eyes I think.... almost time to air out the sleeping bags and find that tent maybe...
I am so glad I have little boys, it makes the potty thing so much easier. My worry is keeping them out of the middle of everyone when they drop their pants. Although, the other day when we were driving the loop, Brayden had to go #2 so he had to use the potty, he never ended up going because he was afraid that he would fall in the big hole.
I MISS CAMPING ALOT..
THE AIR AND I LOVE TO LOOK AT THE FIRE..AND THE FOOD ALWAYS BETTER
OUTDOORS...
I THINK IM READY FOR AN OVER NIGHTER...HOW ABOUT IT MOTHER
Ahhh...Tiff, you make me want to pitch a tent and go camping NOW!

Well it sounds like overall you had a good time and experienced some of those memories that make life meaningful. And I am glad to know that Whitney is not the only one that freaks about the "deep downs."
I'm jealous that you got to go with all your neighbors. How fun!!! All I have to say is holy kids! There are like, what 20 in that pic? I'm sure it was a blast for your kids. We went camping and Easton loved the deep down ones. He found in fascinating. That's a boy for you!
I'm glad you guys came. It was definitely fun getting to know people better. I completely agree with your pros and cons, and somehow the fact that it's fun just wins the debate against all the negative. Hopefully we can all do it many more times to come.
Makes me sooo excited for next week, for all of the reasons you mentioned!! LOVE camping!
