I have been toying around with letting McKenna get her ears pierced (in my mind of course never talking to Mike about it....note to self not the greatest idea). Originally Mike and I decided that we would let her when she was 8 for obvious reasons. I dont need to go into:) The problem about the original deal was that whenever her 8th birthday came up and we would ask her what she would do when she turned 8 she always answered "get my ears pierced." Well if you are LDS that is not the answer you are looking for! So a couple days after her 6th birthday I was at the store feeling a little too spontaneous looking at the jewelry counter and decided to ask her if she was ready. She looked at me and got a big grin then said "YES." Her enthusiasm dwindled a bit after she was sitting on the stool and asked me to hold her hand. I have to admit that up until this point I was so excited for her. Then as she was sitting there I realized that she was growing up too fast. I almost wanted to change my mind about the whole idea but new that I would break her heart if I did. So she (well both of us) put a brave face on and they did it. No tears, only a little quiver of her lip. She was super proud of them and showed everyone the second they came into the room. Her throwing up blue later on in the store and her Daddy's reaction will have to wait for another post!

Well She Did It. Good or Bad, Agree or Not.....

Well those ears look good. Whitney and I were fortunately one of the first to see them because we had to play hero to tiff after locking her keys in the car. Not the first possibly not the last. Not that I'm complaining I did earn blessings and a gatorade.
Homer you were the HERO that day! I promise I will try to do better about not locking my keys in my car AGAIN. At least if I do I will carry a camera so I can get a pic to blog about later. BTW I still have your Gatorade in my van (Mike has only drank one of them);)
I chuckle malevolently at the shock that I'm sure side swiped Mike, too funny, sorry if that was not the proper resonse. :)
I always love your responses!
How fun! The excitement always over rules fear. As for the blue throw up, I don't remember that part of my initiation into young womenhood... How hard for you as the mom to watch her grow up (and throw up)!
I am so interested in the blue throw-up story! And if Mike is going to let you take the girls into a mall unaccompanied again? :)
They look nice.
Wow, not a tear. How brave, McKenna. I'm sure the blue throw-up was in anticipation of Mike's response.
So when are we going to read "Daddy's reaction"? That's the one I’m waiting for!!! =)
