Day One.........
Mike and I have decided to try a more plant-based diet for our family. With the rising costs of well practically everything we decided that this would be a perfect transition time especially because it is also summer time. I have been reading alot about it and am convinced that this will be the best thing for our family. So last night for Family Night we talked to the girls about our bodies and how important they are and that they are a gift from our Heavenly Father. We told them we were going to be eating a little bit differently because we need to take care of the insides of our bodies just like we take care of our outsides. Great preface right? They were really excited at the thought of being able to "run even faster"! For our family prayer McKenna asked that we be blessed with "healthy food for our bodies" and during their personal prayers they both asked to be more healthy. Mike and I were feeling pretty confident our FHE did the trick! This morning when McKenna woke up she asked what "healthy new thing" we would be eating. They were so excited to try our new food. I decided to make a banana muffin with a side of grapefruit. Well to put it simply they HATED it. They took a few bites and asked if there was something else that was healthy that they could eat. I told them that, that was it and to just try a few more bites. McKenna practically gagged on the grapefruit and Brynlee picked the poor muffin to pieces. It looks like we need to be praying for our taste buds rather then the food! This looks to be more of a transition then I was thinking. Hopefully the coconut rice for lunch goes a little better....If not we have alot of fruits and veggies to snack on I guess :)

I love your posts! They are always so much fun to read...I'll be interested to know what goes well :)
Central Bank time, 5:19 p.m. Downtown temperature 87 degrees. Just kidding, great post, I want to try the muffins, how can you go wrong with muffins????? Mom
Coconut Rice went over much better. I guess we will take this one day at a time :) or rather one meal at a time.....
You are so funny! I have to say, you and Michael are awesome parents. Your blog is giving me good parenting ideas!!!
It's time for another baby. Between this and the marathon, you just have too much time on your hands. :)
I would die of starvation at your house, and be a horrible example... Maybe I need to have you come give us your lesson about my insides....
It is a good lesson if I must say :)...... Raigynn just started walking FINALLY! Give me a little more time ;)
Great Idea! I think it is probably something alot of us could use. You need to post your menus and recipes so the rest of us can get ideas and not be too scared to try it! :)
Good for you. Stick with it. There's all sorts of "healthy" food your kids will like. You just haven't found it yet. Mine beg for broccoli when we go to the store like it's a treat I've been depriving them of.
