Our summers are never complete w/o a little small town fun! The Lamb Day celebration is a HUGE deal down in Ftn. Green. There is a week long softball tournament that Mike and I usually play in (except for this year, go figure they got team-shirts). Mike and I were able to run the 5K on Sat morning. Mike got in almost 5 minutes before me so by the time I got to the finish line McKenna was wondering why and where I had taken a break...........if only. There is a killer parade that follows. Moroni Feed Company even has a royalty.
I am not sure how they pick them.... maybe who can skin a turkey the fastest or who can eat the gobbler? We always get too much candy thrown at us then the rest of the day is spent hiding the candy from the kids so they dont get too sick.
Over at the park there is booths and games for the kids. On Saturday evening the championship games are played. All of Sanpete shows up for this. The park is lined with chairs sometimes 4 or 5 deep. There is a announcer and a hot dog/hamburger stand set-up. I love it. There is nothing that feels more like summer then watching a baseball game at dusk and smelling hamburgers cooking. After the game they have an impressive firework show that concludes the festivities till next year. We really have a great time with all of Mikes family and cant wait till next year......Yes, I did have a bite of mutton and NO, I still don't like it.

Love your thoughts on how they choose the royalty!! Wish we could've come this year. Maybe next year . .
I love small town festivities. There really is nothing like it. Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I've never had mutton....I'm not really sure what that is. I think I'm scared of it.
I had fun last year there, very all american apple pie kind of stuff, although I'm soooo, soooooo, glad we didn't do the craft thing again! Great post! Mom
Looks like fun--I love the feeling of small towns...everything seems a little more simple. I don't know about the mutton. I don't think I could even try it!
Next year hopefully I don't have to stay there by my self. Some people are too much of a challenge to handle (if you know what I mean) And to this day I still won't even try lamb.
I KNOW exactly what you mean! Hahaha
You are hilarious! Sounds like a serious ho down!
HOLY COW! 19 days til your race! Good luck!
very fun. way to go on your 5K. love the town celebrations in the summer!
I have to agree with you, I don't like mutton either, no matter how many times I try it! It's sounds like a blast though! Maybe one of these years we'll have to drive down and try it out!
Really, there's nothing that beats a hometown gathering. I'm so jealous
